About the design

Designed in three dimensions

A calavera for the ofrenda

A papel-picado scallop band with hanging drops, a foot band and eight ruffled cempasúchil blooms with leaves are sculpted round the drum and print in a second color as part of the body. The white calavera lid carries a skull outline, flower-ringed eyes, a heart nose, a stitched smile, cheek swirls and a crown of drops in the same color, and lifts by the raised flower on its forehead. It rests on the rim by its beveled underside.
