About the design
Designed in three dimensions
Open the rose, and ask
Closed, it is one rose. The body is a cup of five overlapping petals, each with a soft vein and a lip that curls out at the top, held in a calyx of five pointed sepals. Inside, a cushion of two pillows stands free of the wall and grips a ring in a 2.6 mm slit. The lid is the bloom: a spiral bud and five rings of thin petal walls opening outward. The sepals and the top millimetre of every petal print in a second color, so the rose is edged in gold. It rests on the rim by its beveled underside.

Closed rose across its calyx leaves, including the bloom. Two printable parts; the ring cushion is built into the body. Final fit is tested before production.
