The Twilight Pumpkin lantern
A grin worth bringing out every autumn.
A carved jack-o’-lantern with a scowl: angry slanted eyes, a nose and a wide grin of fangs cut right through a ten-lobed head. The lid is cut high with a hand-carved zigzag and settles onto the body’s teeth, topped by a thick brown stem, two green pumpkin leaves and a curling tendril. Set a battery tea light inside and the whole face glows.

About the design
Designed in three dimensions
Carved with a scowl
Ten deep lobes meet in sharp creases. The face is cut high and right through the front wall: angry eyes slanting up and out, a nose and a wide grin of four cells, with broad upper fangs hanging between them and a spiked lower fang rising in each. Every opening is topped with a point that rises at 50 degrees or more, so nothing bridges, and each upper fang stands on a slim neck. The lid is cut near the top with an uneven, hand-carved zigzag: it drops onto the body's twenty-four teeth, centers itself and prints upright on a flat plug. A thick curved stem in brown and two pumpkin leaves with a curling tendril in green print as part of the lid, three colors on one piece. A ring on the floor holds a battery tea light up to 43 mm across. Two parts, without pins or glue.
